Zcash is Getting onto a Regulated Exchange? Institutional Investment Coming!

Gemini is a regulated cryptocurrency exchange in New York. It's notable as one of the exchanges where the price of bitcoin is established to settle bitcoin futures. And now its licensed to provide exchange and custody services for Zcash! Link
Financial Services Superintendent Maria T. Vullo today announced that the New York State Department of Financial Services has authorized Gemini Trust Company, LLC to offer the custody services and trading of Zcash, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash, emerging cryptocurrencies, on its virtual currency exchange based in New York City.
This is a very interesting development considering that Zcash is considered one of the most anonymous cryptocurrencies, making it a target for money laundering. However this development also sheds light on one key short coming of Bitcoin that Zcash solves for.

Imagine, for a second that you want to pay your friend for a pizza in Bitcoin / Litecoin / etc. You ask your friend for their public address to sent the funds to, and then you transfer funds from your account to theirs. Now you know their address, and they know yours.... but imagine if your account has a very large amount of money in it. What if your friend is able to deduce how much money you make and what you spend money on. In present society, most people would feel uncomfortable with others, even friends knowing this kind of information. This is a problem that will limit non-anonymous cryptocurrency's adoption.

Now that Zcash is the only anonymous cryptocurrency that regulated US hedge funds can invest in, we are able to forecast that Zcash is the anonymous cryptocurrency of choice of future institutional investment.

Disclosure: I am / we are Long Zcash
